During the Certified Networker Module 12, we speak on asking for referrals, and creating ways to reminds us to always be asking for referrals. There are a few ideas that I share as a trainer, but Janelle Baker from American Plumbing Solutions had a great idea! (now, I am not sure if she has implemented it yet or not, or if she intends to) Cell phone rings can be created now, and Janelle shared you could create your cell phone ring, saying “Be sure to ask for the referral”.
I would love to hear from you on what system you have created (or want to create) to be sure that you are asking for referrals!

One of the great advantages in being part of a larger organization of promotional item companies is research, surveys, trends, stats, etc. Last week I shared the cost per impression of promotional items, this week I want to share the average number of impressions promotional items offer each month. Bags: 1000+ impressions per month Caps: 476 impressions per month Shirts: 365 impressions per month Pens: 363 impressions per month

I have people who ask all the time what is the COST of promotional items… and that varies from a few cents to hundreds of dollars. Another way to think about promotional products is the COST PER IMPRESSION. Grocery tote bags range in cost from $.99 to around $10, but the cost-per-impression of the tote bags is $.002! Grocery tote bags are used over & over again, and are seen by many people… Some additional cost-per-impression: Caps: $0.002 Shirts: $0.005 Pens: $0.002 Calendars: $0.003 Coffee Mugs: $0.004 Desk/Office/Business Accessories: $0.007 Overall, the average cost per impression on promotional items is $0.004.
So next time you are considering ordering promotional items, remember there is more to the product than just the initial cost! There will be impression after impression after impression each time your client, prospect, referral partner uses the item YOU GAVE THEM!
Stay tuned next week for the number of impressions per month! Thanks for Counselor Magazine for survey results.

I was doing a training at the Palm Harbor Chamber last week… and we were talking about creating relationships with professionals in non-competing industries with the exact same target market (sometimes called Circles of Influences, Contact Spheres, Spheres of Influences, Power Teams). There is POWER in creating these relationships with these professionals, but that is a blog entry for another day. At the training, one of the participants asked, “Do we really have to do all these things to make it work?” and I was reminded of an article that I recently read from Dr. Ivan Misner, BNI Light--Just Isn’t Right. While this was a Chamber event, and not a BNI event, I thought that the principle was the same.
Excerpt: I’d like to win the Tour de France, but I’m really not a fan of the endless exertion involved. I’ve also always thought it would be amazing to win an Olympic medal; the extreme workouts and conditioning. . . is all that really necessary?
